VMI confirmed on 30 June that the Chinese Intellectual Property Court supported VMI in all its claims against Shuangjun Plastic and Rubber Machinery, after the Chinese Patent Management Bureau ruled that Shuangjun was infringing VMI’s patent for its tire-building drum.
This comes after VMI’s announcement in February that it had launched multiple IP infringement cases in China.
VMI said it had uncovered new incidents of “blatant infringement” of its patents and had commenced further actions.
The ruling in China constitutes an “enormous triumph” and“ confirms its “faith in the Chinese judicial system”.
“VMI has commenced further enforcement actions and will take all steps necessary to make these offenders face the legal consequence of their illegal acts,” the group added.
VMI CEO Harm Voortman said in February: “We see defence of our IP rights not just as a simple commercial necessity, but we consider it as a clear duty to the market.”
