PatSnap stakes claim across the pond

Intellectual property analytics company PatSnap has launched its first US office in Los Angeles.

PatSnap provides customers with large IP datasets including licensing, litigation and patent valuation data, intended to help accelerate research and development.

The new office will offer dedicated support to US PatSnap customers.

Amir Achourie will lead PatSnap in the US as head of sales for the Americas. He said: “Sixty percent of our customers are now based in the US—so the question probably shouldn’t be ‘why are we opening the US office?’ but ‘why has it taken so long?’”

“The truth is our amazing customer success team, and our UK sales operations have done such a brilliant job of establishing PatSnap in the US that until now it wasn’t necessary.”

He added: “Recently we reached a tipping point where over 50 percent of our customers were based in the US, and more and more of them are enterprise-level customers. We had to be on the ground to support them.”
